Seems like AIIMS never had enough of making headlines. First it was the medical students’ strike, then its report defying Apollo in the Rahul Mahajan drug case. Now it is the AIIMS PRO, Arti Vij, who has been caught in the middle of a crossfire between the hospital and the government, with major media houses writing about the altercation between Health Minister, Anbumani Ramadoss, and the AIIMS Director, P Venugopal.
Hindustan Times reports - The trouble began after DS Moorthy, Officer on Special Duty to the Minister, sought the replacement of the AIIMS public relations officer, sub-dean and senior financial advisor, as well as action against its medical superintendent without taking Venugopal into confidence. Terming the move as undue and intentional, the faculty said it was an attempt to undermine the prestige and dignity of AIIMS. The faculty demanded Ramadoss’ removal from the post of President of the institute.
According to the report, Ramadoss has alleged that the hospital administration has become ineffective. I wonder if it was the way the hospital administration handled the recent medical students’ strike, and the way it had supplied masala to the media for weeks, causing unrest to the government.

What can one do when a guy like Ramadoss gets power. Specially so, when he himself is a doctor. I am sure he hardly ever practised medicine, and even if he did for a short period, obviously it nwas a stopgap and he must have been focussing on his political career. He seems to be on a personal vendetta as far as AIIMS goes. It’s like he never got admission as a student and now he has got a chance to hit them back. As a technocrat himself, he should be the last one to nudge and finger aiims. Whatever be the internal politics - and HEY! Ramdoss, politics lives in every human heart, and we all know that, over all these years aiims has managed to live up to its reputation of being the best. Hadnt you applied too Dr. Ramdoss ? ? AQny aspirant doc in this country dies to get admission in there. So, buddy red tape is the last thing any technocrat needs. Are u not aware how red tapeism in the past had resulted in suicides by scientists in pusa institute and in ICAR? I feel bureaucrats, should not meddle in the work of technocrats, as they dont have any understanding of the subject matter. If at all Dr. Ramdoss, u want to to be remembered as a politician, then try and improve the grants for the govt hospitals. See to it that the hosp’s have good beds, better facilities and atleast potable water and clean toilets. Dont tread in places not meant for you. Like your advise to sportsmen or banning the smoking scenes. Dont try to act as the Messiah. Let people make their own choices, dont try to impose ur shitty ideas. use them on your family. And if you unfettered spirit is killing you and u await your chance of worldwide reputation then please wait for your Telengana state to happen and become the first CM and then GOD save my telegu friends.
U are the type NO country NEEDS.

what is the exact role of PRO is anybody’s guess but it has been settled down well with the media. Atleast no news on the media front now. Suggest Veenugopal needs an image consultant. Anyways lets wait to hear for more news
