Free Press Release Distribution Services
By Editor on Jun 30, 2006 in featured, industry, mediarelations
As we are talking about using technology and web tools to enhance the way we are sending out information to the media, I might as well just mention this one - Free Press Release Distribution Services.
Remember the free press release distribution service launched in India recently? There are more. Below are 10 such service providers that will distribute our press releases to news search engines, journalists, and other websites free of charge. Check them out.
Just a note of caution - Don’t forget to study the sites well yourself and checkout a couple of the other press releases that they have earlier distributed, before you submit yours to them. Would also be a better idea to discuss it out internally with colleagues and with your clients, before you start using these servcies.
Here is the list:

Press Base
Express Press Release Distribution

This seems lot anyday better than PR newswire and stuff. But they need to have jounalist and media details on their mailing list as well..

These are usually good sites for getting incoming links but I’d be interested in knowing if they’ve ever resulted in decent press coverage for anyone.
The best coverage is still secured by pitching stories directly to journalists - hitting the phones.

Hi Sean
You are right, the best stories come from picking up the phone or from meeting up journalists. But, let’s rather look at these sites as value adds we can use to optimise our press release distribution to the usual methods we have been using. That’s the idea.

Hi Hobbit,
One service that seems conspiculously absent from your list is PRWeb.com. The company has free and inexpensive offerings, and has, from my experience, the very best Web2.0 and “Push” media engine of any PR platform in the industry. I’ve actually created a couple of statistics papers to show the sorts of results you can expect to achieve. Please let me know if you’d like them, and I’ll gladly email to you.
Thanks for brining these to the forefront. People will eventually realize that PR in the Web2.0 environment is one of the most powerful tools for gaining online visibility and active content. A great thing.
Best!

Last time I Checked Preweb does not offer free press release services.
However, I can say that eagant is correct in stating that PRweb is the most under-rated marketing tool in the 2.0 web-a-sphere&rep;
If you need looking for effective web marketing, it is always best implemented as part of an overall solution that address muliple aspects of online business. As such, it is usaually best left to the pro’s
