Lets Rate The Media
By Palin Ningthoujam on Sep 8, 2008 in research

It’s been over a year since we conducted a survey here at IPRB but the last time we did it, we had some eye opening stats coming out.
Now what is this new survey? The media in India today is often based on on their readership figures, but as PR professionals we know that their content and style matter a lot. And who else to ask than PR professionals about media houses and journalists. We have five simple questions and hope you can take two minues out of your time to fill this short survey. Your inputs will be much appreciated.
There is only one answer for each question and that might appear a bit tricky but we think that is one way to just hit on to the best without complicating things too much.

BTW, i didn’t know only english newspapers had indepth stories, breaking news, best articles etc. Obviously the readership of regional language newspapers must be hitting rock bottom. About time they shut shop. Who reads regional papers anyway??

see we always have english over the regionals, like some of the stupid pr plans, has anybody lately read the loksatta, maharatra times, bhaskar, guj samachar……………….we live in india boss, guj samachar has some brilliant stories on comodities which are then translated to english papers:)

I agree with Himanshu. We may write and talk at length on how important regional papers are, but how many of us read these publications??

@ Bhawna - “how many of us read these publications?” Very interesting! Time we had a post on english vs regional language on indiaPRB. BTW, which is the daily with largest readership - TOI, IE, ET, Hindu or BS? You are not allowed to cheat, ok?
And while we are at it - the survey is to test indiaPRB’s readers’ knowledge of the 9 english dailies, right? Correct me if I am wrong

Tsk, tsk…not good, not good at all. Frivolous remarks landed Ms. Bachchan in a soup. Do you have a “delete my silly comment” option on indiaprb?

a point for bina, bhawna and dear mouse, was just thinking that although the print run and circulation makes toi leader in the list you gave but some one informed me that et gets more hits online than any one else.
yes i do read regionals also just for entertainment we should read business standard hindi, et gujarati and you will be amused by the headlines they come out with great entertainment
